The Ria Formosa Natural Park is a labyrinth of channels, islands, marshes and sandbars, which stretches along 60 km of the Algarve coast, between Faro and Manta Rota.
This ecosystem attracts numerous species of birds such as the sultana hen, symbol of the Natural Park. To admire this strikingly plumed bird and learn all about this protected area, start by visiting the Marim Environmental Education Center (https://marim-center.freemaps.net/en), which will show you the walking trails and the best places for bird watching.
The Park also organizes trips on a traditional boat used in the times of tuna fishing.
Sun and sea lovers will find true paradises on the islands of Ria Formosa. From west to east, there are the islands of Faro, Barreta, Culatra, Armona and Tavira, with extensive beaches that are not very frequented.
A place that definitely deserves your visit.
